Monitor Arm Buying Guide for Pakistan: VESA Sizes, Weight Limits and Desk Fit

Monitor arms are the most searched item on our store and also the one people get wrong most often. The mistake is almost always the same: buying first and checking compatibility second.

Three numbers decide whether an arm will work with your setup. Get these right and the rest is straightforward.

Number one: your VESA pattern

VESA is the standard for the four screw holes on the back of your monitor. The two common patterns are 75x75 and 100x100, measured in millimetres between the holes.

To check yours, look at the back of the monitor. You will see four holes in a square. Measure centre to centre, horizontally. If it is roughly 7.5 cm you have 75x75. If it is roughly 10 cm you have 100x100.

Most monitors between 19 and 27 inches use one of these two. Our HT-20 monitor arm supports both, which covers the overwhelming majority of monitors sold in Pakistan.

If you see no holes at all, your monitor may need a separate VESA adapter bracket. Some curved and ultra thin models ship without a standard mount.

Number two: your monitor weight

Every arm has a maximum load. Exceeding it does not usually cause a dramatic failure, it causes slow sag, where the monitor drifts downward over weeks until it will not hold position.

Find the weight in your monitor manual, and use the figure without the original stand attached. That is the number that matters.

As a rough guide, a 24 inch monitor typically weighs 3 to 5 kg, and a 27 inch is usually 5 to 7 kg. The HT-20 handles up to 9.5 kg and monitors from 13 to 32 inches, which leaves comfortable headroom for both.

Number three: your desk thickness and edge

Desk clamps have a thickness range. Most fit desks between roughly 1 and 8 cm thick. Measure yours before ordering.

Two things catch people out. If your desk has a rear lip, moulding or a cable channel along the back edge, the clamp may not sit flat. And if the desk is glass or thin particle board, a clamp concentrates a lot of force in a small area, so check that the surface can take it.

Clamp mount or grommet mount

A clamp grips the edge of the desk and needs no modification. This is what most people should choose.

A grommet mount passes through an existing hole in the desk, which is more stable and frees up the desk edge, but requires a hole to already exist or to be drilled.

What a monitor arm actually improves

Posture. Most monitors sit too low on their factory stands, which pushes your neck forward. Raising the screen so the top edge sits level with your eyes removes that. If you work eight hours a day, this is the whole argument on its own.

Desk space. The original stand footprint disappears. On a small desk that is a meaningful amount of usable surface.

Adjustability. Height, tilt and swivel on demand. Useful when you switch between gaming, working and showing someone else your screen.

Common mistakes

Assuming all monitors are VESA compatible. Many budget and curved models are not without an adapter.

Ignoring the weight limit. Sag is the most common complaint about cheap arms, and it is almost always overloading.

Forgetting cable length. Once the monitor is raised and pushed back, a short HDMI or power cable may no longer reach.

Mounting on a wobbly desk. An arm amplifies existing desk movement. If the desk already shakes when you type, fix that first.

Setup in short

Clear the desk area, attach the clamp and tighten it firmly. Remove the original stand from the monitor. Screw the VESA plate onto the back of the monitor. Slide the monitor onto the arm and secure it. Adjust the spring tension so the monitor holds position without drifting. Route your cables through the arm channel last, not first.

Give yourself twenty minutes and a second pair of hands for the lifting step.

Frequently asked questions

Will a monitor arm fit my 24 inch monitor?
Almost certainly, provided it has VESA holes and weighs under the arm's limit. The HT-20 covers 13 to 32 inches up to 9.5 kg.

Can I mount two monitors on one arm?
Not on a single arm. You need either a dual arm or two separate single arms.

Will it damage my desk?
A clamp leaves pressure marks on soft surfaces over time. Most arms include a protective pad. On glass desks, check the manufacturer's guidance first.

Do you deliver across Pakistan?
Yes, nationwide, with cash on delivery available.

Is there a warranty?
Yes. We are the official Xtrike Me distributor in Pakistan and provide warranty support on everything we sell.
